This tutorial will show you how to create effective way gates.
Covers:
- 2 Way, Way gates
- 1 Way, Way gates
Right, first, we need a new map. Create a peasant for the player to control in the game, and build two warp gates nearby. Like so:
The warp gates can be found in the units palette under: Neutral – Buildings
Now this is done, you have to create regions for the destinations. Put one region just in front of each warp gate, like so:
Call the one in the upper right: ‘Warp 1’, and the lower left: ‘Warp 2’.
Now we’re almost done!
Go back to the ‘Units’ layer, and double click on the upper right warp gate. You will be prompted with a window that looks like this:
Tick the box that says: ‘Waygate Active: Destination’, and select ‘Warp 2’ in the combo box to the right.
Do the same with the other waygate, but change the destination to ‘Warp 1’.
And there we have it, your warp gates will now work! No complicated triggers this time!
To create 1-way waygates, simply repeat the above process, but do not tick the tick box titled: ‘Waygate Active: Destination’. This will simply de-activate the second warpgate.
Now you can go ahead and test the map! Delete the triggers first though, or you will not have a chance to test anything.
